HIGH POINT AWARD PROGRAM

Rules for Participation

· All riders participating in the Awards Program must be current members of SAAHA.

· The rider need not own horses unless the award category is ~~owner to ride".

· Points are automatically collected and tallied by a member of the Show Committee for all SAAHA Class A shows.

· All horses shown must be registered Arabians or Half-Arabians.

· Points are calculated on the number of entries in the class. Depending on the number of entries in the class, 5 is the maximum number of points a person can earn for a regular class and 10 for a championship. (Championship class points are doubled). For example; In a 5 or more horse class,

lst=5 points, 2 =4 points, 3 =3 points, 4=2 points and 5th= 1 point.

· Competition period is for the calendar year, January through December, unless otherwise specified.

· Exhibitors are responsible for checking their points for accuracy when published in the newsletter. If there is an error, the exhibitor must contact the Show Committee within 30 days for correction.

· Champion and Reserve awards will be given for each Exhibitor, Performance, Purebred and Half-

 

· Any category with fewer than 3 entries is subject to combination with another category. Arabian All Around, Dressage and Dressage Rider divisions. Certificates will be awarded for the same divisions listed above, placed through 5~.

· Awards are presented at the Holiday Party and awards banquet unless otherwise specified.

· EXHIBITOR DIVISION- these awards are for the rider only. Age requirements as specified in the USAE Rule Book, Article 107, must be met for each award for which a member is competing. Only SAAHA Class A Shows count toward these awards.

o Junior Exhibitor Category Qualifying classes are designated as Junior to Ride/Handle (JTR/JTH) and Junior Owner to Ride/Handle (JOTRIJOTH). Purebred and Half-Arabian classes apply, and each horse-rider combination is counted separately. Age divisions will be split if entries permit.

o Adult Amateur Category Qualifying classes are designated as Adult Amateur to Ride/Handle (AATWAATH) and Adult Amateur Owner to Ride/Handle (AAOTR/AAOTH). Purebred and Half-Arabian classes apply, and each horse-rider combination is counted separately.

o Professional Category Qualifying classes are those not designated as Junior to

Ride/Handle (JTWJTH), Junior Owner to Ride/Handle (JOTR/JOTH), Adult Amateur to

Ride/Handle (AATR/AATH) or Adult Amateur Owner to Ride/Handle

(AAOTR/AAOTH). Purebred and Half-Arabian classes apply, and each horse-rider

combination is counted separately

· PERFORMANCE DIVISION- points for this division apply to horses only, not the exhibitor. Only SAAHA Class A shows count for these awards. Equitation, Showmanship and Horsemanship classes do not count toward these awards.

o Purebred Halter- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions.

o Half-Arabian Halter- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions.

o P'urebred English- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include English Pleasure, Country English Pleasure, Show Hack, English Side Saddle and Costume.

o Half-Arabian English- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include English Pleasure, Country English Pleasure, Show Hack, English Side Saddle and Costume.

o Purebred Hunter Pleasure- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Hunter Pleasure, English Side Saddle, Show Hack and Costume.

o Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Hunter Pleasure, English Side Saddle, Show Hack and Costume.

o Purebred Western- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Western Pleasure and Western Side Saddle.

o Half-Arabian Western- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Western Pleasure and Western Side Saddle.

o Purebred Working Western- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Trail and Reining.

o Half-Arabian Working Western- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Trail and Reining.

o Purebred Working Hunter- Open to Purebred Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Low Working Hunter, Green Working Hunter, Working Hunter, Working Hunter Under Saddle and Jumpers.

o Half-Arabian Working Hunter- Open to Half-Arabian Mares, Geldings and Stallions. Classes to count include Low Working Hunter, Green Working Hunter, Working Hunter, Working Hunter Under Saddle and Jumpers

o Purebred Horse of the Year- Open to Purebred Mares, Gelding and Stallions. All classes and divisions to count except equitation, horsemanship or showmanship. Each horse with all riders is counted.

o Half-Arabian Horse of the Year- Open to Purebred Mares, Gelding and Stallions. All classes and divisions to count except equitation, horsemanship or showmanship. Each horse with all riders is counted.

· DRESSAGE DIVISION- There are two categories under this division:

o Combined Purebred and Half-Arabian Performance Horse- Only SAAHA Class A shows apply. Qualifying tests are; Training, First, Second, Third and Fourth Levels tests I-IV. Points from all Dressage tests entered will apply. All points earned under Dressage will go towards performance points and will not be pointed toward the exhibitor, for example:

ATR and JTR points will go to the horse and not the rider.

o Dressage Rider Award- All SAAHA members who have two or more rides which score 60% or higher at any recognized USAE, IAHA or USDF show qualifies for this award. This award is to the rider and scores may be obtained on different horses. The rider is responsible for providing a copy of the cover of their individual test sheets with the judge's signature to the Show Committee.

TOTALLY AWESOME EQUINE AWARD This award combines both competitive and non-competitive activities and is based on a compellation of points with no time limit. To enroll, the exhibitor keeps a log using the Totally Awesome Equine Point Sheet. When the horse earns its first one hundred points, this point sheet is submitted to the Show Committee and a plaque is presented at the Year-End High Point Awards Banquet. With each additional hundred points earned thereafter, an engraved plaque will be presented at the Banquet which is intended to be added to the original plaque. Alter a horse has earned a total of 1,000 points, its award is retired. The exhibitor is responsible for submitting point tabulation to the Show Committee. Points are awarded for the following activities:

Sponsored/Organized Trail Rides = 1 point per mile

Endurance/Competitive Trail Rides = 1 point per mile

Breed or Open Shows = I point per class shown

· Fairs = 5 points

Clinic in which horse participates = 5 points

Sponsored Demonstrations (4-H, school, etc) = 5 points

Parades = 5 points, plus 1 point per mile
